Surgical Advisory Board

The Surgical Advisory Board (SAB) provides Orteq with specialist counsel. Its purpose is to ensure that Actifit® reaches its full potential and delivers real benefits for the patient and the surgeon. The SAB consists of four leading orthopaedic surgeons. Peter Kurzweil, MD, Chairman, and Russell Warren, MD, both are from the United States, and Professor René Verdonk and Professor Hans Pässler from Europe. This world-renowned team is providing help and guidance on many medical issues and are instrumental in formulating and conducting the human clinical trials.

Peter Kurzweil Peter Kurzweil, MD - Advisory Board Chairman

Dr Kurzweil, MD, specializes in knee and shoulder surgery at the Long Beach Clinic in Southern California and is an Associate Editor of 'Arthroscopy', the Journal of The Arthroscopy Association of North America ("AANA"). He is the author of numerous articles in prestigious orthopedic journals, and is active in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Hans Passler Professor Hans H Päessler, MD

Dr Pässler is a world renowned specialist in sports medicine and the knee. He is Editor-in-Chief of European Journal of Sports Traumatology and Related Research and is Honorary Professor of Sports Traumatology at the Catholic University S.A. Murcia, Spain. He treats patients from across the world, including many Americans at his specialist clinic in Heidelberg, Germany.

Rene Verdonk Prof Dr. René Verdonk

Professor Verdonk is the Chief of the Orthopedic and Trauma Dept at the University Hospital Gent, Belgium and is highly regarded around the world for his major research on the meniscus and transplantation of human meniscal allografts. Professor Verdonk is widely published on treatment of meniscal injuries. He is leading Orteq's first clinical trial in Europe.

Russell Warren Russell Warren, MD

Dr Warren, MD, is in practice at the world-renowned sports medicine clinic, The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, and the surgeon-in-chief. He is the team doctor for the New York Giants football team, and is widely published on meniscus research.
